Help shelter animals like Piggie!

Piggie was adopted from the Front Street Animal Shelter in 2020, and found love not only from his amazing new family but also from thousands of people who connected with the story of this sweet soul. Piggie's family honors his memory by giving back to the shelter where his story began, and invites you to join them in supporting Front Street pets still looking for their happily ever after!

"We started fostering Piggie in March 2020. He was a mess, with tons of joint issues, flaky dry skin, a nose with so much hyperkeratosis it looked geological, and breathing problems on top of that! He couldn’t walk more than 20 or so feet without getting winded. He was a handful and we loved him so much. In May 2020 he had major reconstructive surgery on his soft palate and his nasal passages which helped him breathe so much better! We ended up putting him officially up for adoption in June once his health turned around and we determined he was ready. The day after we did this.... it felt so wrong! We had a brief conversation, created a pros and cons list for keeping him, and adopted him right then. In July, he was diagnosed with heartworm disease.... the hits just never stopped coming for this sweet boy! He went through months of painful injections, many sleepless nights, and a long recovery. In December 2020 he was finally post-injections and in the healing process. Despite all of these troubles, the unconditional love he has never stopped showing, despite his issues and pain and discomfort is so inspiring. At his very worst, he constantly showed us love. He truly makes us slow down and enjoy life. We pledged to make every day his best day ever. And we did that. When you are lucky enough to care for someone who needs you more than most, they will fill your heart with love and pride and happiness. Piggie, we thank you for that."
