Help shelter and community animals this holiday season

The end of the year is a critical time for our shelter – the spirit of giving is in the air, and we rely on the kindness of donors to provide for our animals’ many needs in the coming year.

In 2025 we expect to take in about 10,000 animals from all walks of life. Unfortunately many of them will be sick, injured, neglected, or in need of behavioral or other programs to get ready for adoption. We already rely on donors to provide much of this life-saving support, but with another massive budget deficit expected by the city this year, we’ll need more help than ever before.

Not only that, but despite budget cuts we’re determined to expand our programs that help animals in the community. We realize that there are significant animal welfare issues outside our walls that we don’t want to ignore – Animals getting sick or dying from preventable diseases, animals getting lost and never finding their way home, community cats reproducing at rapid rates, unsheltered individuals needing support to care for their pets, and many people struggling to feed their animals, both housed and unhoused. That’s why we plan to continue our free vaccine and microchip clinics, our free spay/neuter program for feral cats, the expansion of our Homeless Outreach and Assistance Program, and our free food bank program. YOU can play a part in making all these things happen.

Thanks to you, animals can overcome their hardship, get a second chance at life, and experience happiness while bringing happiness to their humans as well. We hope you’ll join us today to celebrate two things that bring us the most joy in life – Animals and giving.

Thank you!
